Diverse. Adaptable. Prolific. Humans are influential throughout the world and are among the most varied of species. It is said that a Dwarf is a Dwarf, and an Elf is an Elf. But a Human? A Human can be anything.
History
Humans appeared in small pockets throughout the world during the Age of Learning. In the early periods of time, Humans were dismissed as weak and stupid, but history proved Humanity to be one of the most dominant species of the world. Their influence has touched nearly every culture and bloodline.
The majority of Human civilizations had expansionist policies throughout history. This is in part why most empires are led by humans. Many species see Humans as a plaque or villains because of their expansive control. Human groups spread as history went on, covering the land, even in some of the most remote and hostile environments. Some settlements seemed to exist merely to defy the strength of nature.
With such spread and natural ambition, Human history is the most soaked in conflict among themselves and with other species.
Culture
Like other Born of Nature species, Humans have innate ambition and are often dissatisfied. Humans are beings of extremes, including strong emotions, grand ideals, and deep selfishness.
Humans see themselves as the heroes of the grand story that is history. Other species see Humans as vein, evident in the fact that humans call other species that look like them as ‘humanoid’. Members of other species that get to know Humans discover that their nature is much more complicated than simply power-hungry narcissists. Notable Humans have displayed some of the most selfless acts and beneficial creations throughout history. Paladin orders that dedicate their lives to saving people, colleges that promote learning and teach the masses, artists that inspire even the coldest of hearts, and inventions that improve lives. All of these have been proliferated by humanity beyond doubt by even the harshest of critics.
Although, at a glance, Humans seem to excel at nothing, they embody potential. Name any skill and there is at least one Human expert. Humans have to work harder than other species to excel, but when they dedicate their life, they can achieve great heights.
Humans have achieved their successes not only through independent mastery, but also in their ability to work together. Humanity has a wide variety of different leadership structures, many of which become quite complicated. Humans excel at organizational structures complex enough to support the vast empires they create. The number of different cultures humans have created are far too numerous to list.
Humans have a pantheon of gods they worship and call upon to aid them in their lives. Each god has a certain specialty, theme, or inclination. Their deities also have a collection of stories that portray their personality. These stories are often taught in temples and told to children before they go to sleep.
Physicality
Humans come in all shades of skin, hair, and eyes. But compared to other species, Humans with pure blood look very similar to each other. When other species blood is introduced, however, their features are strongly affected.
Physical Heritage
The human physic is quick pick up traits of other species, but leaves little mark on other species. Which is probably for the best, as human blood has spread prolifically throughout all species.
"I will turn every stone, slay every beast. I will speak every word ever written under the stars and then twice more. I will bless and curse, rob and beg, cheat and kill, taint and cure. I will bleed upon the mountains, the waves, the caverns, and the clouds if I have to. When I stand upon my towering achievements in splendor, when my people are prosperous from my toils, then my name will be written upon stone and sung long past when you and your pathetic attempt at ‘compromise’ have been forgotten."
-Terrel, Human knight and seer, speaking at the council of Elves
